Calgary Herald Interviews AIS Media to Discuss Ways the Auto Industry Can Improve Their Web Sites

September 26, 2008

AIS Media CEO, Thomas Harpointner, was interviewed by Calgary Herald to discuss how businesses in the auto industry need to effectively manage their web sites with consistent improvements in order to meet consumer’s standards in today’s marketplace. His statements included:

"The Big Three U.S. automakers have all had a bad year," Harpointner says. "And, yes, that has a lot to do with the economy, but also with their failure to adjust (their websites). Ford, GM and Chrysler -- all three websites look like the same guy designed them. Sure, they're pretty and they're flashy, but the sites are geared more toward a person who's still very early in the buying process.”
"When it comes down to helping establish final choices, the sites don't come through."

He figures that once at the dealership, customers are generally ready to buy, having already sold themselves by conducting their own online research.

"Most customers start researching a car and buy within 72 days," he says.
