The Star-Ledger Interviews AIS Media CEO, Thomas Harpointner, on Mobile Communication's Popularity in Politics

AIS Media Inc. CEO, Thomas Harpointner, was interviewed by The Star-Ledger for his opinion on mobile communication’s role in the upcoming 2008 election. His statements included:

Thomas Harpointner, who heads the Atlanta-based electronic marketing and strategy firm AIS Media, said laws governing mobile electioneering are virtually non-existent.

"I'm not aware of any law that says you can't text a person at any time of the day. If a politician got a list of every citizen in the United States and decided to message them every single day, there's no reason you couldn't do that from a legal standpoint,” he said.

Harpointner said mobile messaging will undoubtedly play a significant role in the 2008 election, and some candidates already are collecting mobile numbers to reach voters.
