"Cyber Monday" also kicked off what is expected to be the largest e-commerce holiday season ever. Web sites are expected to generate an estimated $30 billion in sales between "Cyber Monday" and Christmas day compared to nearly $25 billion in 2006, said Thomas Harpointner, CEO of AIS Media, an e-business solutions provider.

"When shopping online, there are great deals to be had," Harpointner said. "But with those big deals, also comes the risk of getting ripped off."
